Flyfishing Arctic Char in Greenland

The Robins River is known for its good fishing, and is one of the best arctic char rivers in Greenland. The river is good for both fly and spin fishing, with several good pools. Depending on the season and especially rainfall, it can vary where in the river there are the most fish, so it can be right down by camp or far up the river the best fishing is. The best information about the river you can find on youtube, try searching for "Robinson River Greenland", then lots of videos will appear from anglers who have been there over the years. The arctic char is typically 1-3 kg, and with individual fish around 5 kg. Cod we fish in the fjord is typically 1-5 kg, but can be +10 kg, so if it`s something you want to try while you`re here. it requires a bit more robust equipment. We do, however, have handlines with jigs that you can borrow. The fishing trips include transport, board and lodging from arrival in Kangerlussuaq until departure, as well as fishing licenses. So you just have to make sure to get to Kangerlussuaq and back home yourself. When you arrive in Kangerlussuaq, you will be picked up at the airport. From there we go to the Kangerlussuaq Youth Hostel where you can leave what you don`t want to bring to camp. After this we sail to camp, a 2-3 hour trip. We arrive in camp at the end of the day, where we get set up and have dinner. There will be an opportunity to start fishing. Each fishing day is free fishing on your own for arctic char in the river and from the coast. There will be an opportunity for the guide to take you out in the boat and fish cod, but just a few persons at a time. On the day we sail back to town, we pack and sail after breakfast, so there will be no time to fish. In the evening, you spend the night at Kangerlussuaq Youth Hostel, and are driven to the airport the next morning.
