The Breakwater Lodge: Your Ideal Fishing Destination
Discover the perfect blend of adventure, relaxation, and breathtaking scenery at The Breakwater Lodge. Located in the protected waters of the Northern Discovery Islands, our lodge offers access to over 20 prime fishing locations. Our expert guides ensure you're always fishing the best grounds, in both productive and calm waters. In 25 years of guiding, our owner has never seen anyone get seasick.
Choose from 3, 4, or 7-night packages with exclusive access to the entire lodge, which accommodates up to 10 guests in 5 rooms. Guests can either bring their own food and drinks or hire a private chef for an additional charge. A grocery delivery service is available for those preparing their own meals.
The lodge is located on Sonora Island, just a 1-hour seaplane flight from Vancouver or a 1.5-hour boat ride from Campbell River, making it easy to reach.
What to expect
On your arrival day, you’ll head out for an evening of fishing or exploration. The next days include 8-9 hours of fishing or wildlife adventures, with the option to break up your time into two 4-hour sessions. Most fishing grounds are just 15 minutes from the lodge, ensuring minimal travel time.
After each day, our guides will fillet, vacuum pack, and freeze your catch. If you prefer, they can prepare your fish for a fresh, same-day meal. On departure day, sleep in while we get your fish ready for travel, or sneak in one last catch.
Fishing & Wildlife Adventures
Fish for salmon, lingcod, and rockfish in the saltwater, or explore freshwater options like cutthroat trout in the Philips River, steelhead, and Dolly Varden. The waters also teem with spot prawns and Dungeness crab.
If fishing isn’t your thing, enjoy whale watching, tidal rapids, oyster picking, hiking, or simply relaxing in the stunning surroundings. There's never a dull moment.
We’re happy to answer any questions and can customize your trip to suit your needs.
